The Gersch was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1995, though their members now reside all across the United States in the cities of Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Chicago. They have been on extended hiatus since 1999.
Biography
Guitarists Justin Sosnovski, Graham Hick and B. Clifford Meyer got together in Allston, Massachusetts, during the winter of 1994-95 to form a rock band. They decided to perform without a bass and instead used 3 guitars tuned low. They met Jonathan Ruhe who agreed to play the drums. Their myspace profile claims their "music was inspired by the poetic dialogue of "Conan The Barbarian" and the dissected human anatomy drawings of Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564)".Debuting at O'Briens, a small club in Allston, in 1995, The Gersch cleared the room with the first song of their set - the 15 minute long "Cheapskin".In 1997 a 7 inch single of two songs by The Gersch was released by Tortuga Recordings.
