Midian Biography

In the Bible, Midian (Hebrew: ???????, Standard Midyan Tiberian ; Arabic ????; "Strife; judgment") is a son of Abraham and his wife Keturah (who according to the midrash is Hagar), but most Christians regard Hagar and Keturah as different people because Abraham is assumed to have met and married Keturah after the death of his wife Sarah since she is the last wife mentioned bibicallyGenesis 23:1. Although it is arguable that the events of the Bible may not be entirely chronological, the Bible describes Hagar as the Egyptian maidservant of Sarah Genesis 25:12 who was ordered by Sarah to act as her and her husband Abraham's serogate in order to bear them their first child Ishmael, because Sarah thought she was infertile Genesis16:1-12.
