Dark Savior is an isometric 3D action role-playing game for the Sega Saturn created by Climax Entertainment. The game is often referred to as a spiritual sequel to the developer's similar game for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Landstalker, although the game's storylines are unrelated.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Dark Savior consists of three different modes, a standard exploring/platform jumping/puzzle solving, a simplified beat-em-up mode similar to that of Street Fighter and a section of the game where you can explore towns and talk with NPCs.
Parallel System
Dark Savior hosted a unique parallel system. At the start of the game, the player has access to three of the game's parallel storylines, depending on how he/she performs in the first level of the game. The English version of Dark Savior contains five parallels that can be accessed in the following ways:
Parallel 1: The Hunt for Evil - This can be accessed by reaching the captain's cabin in greater than 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
